We are already well into Victoria's market season, seeing as many of the staple markets started up mid-April. And most markets will be running strong until the cooler weeks of September or October, meaning if you haven't hit up the weekly markets you still have plenty of time left and there's still many specialty markets yet to pop up!
I wanted to touch on some of the more unique, individual markets coming up this Summer. Ones that will only be occurring once or a few times over the course of the summer. A few of these are new, and don't have the tenure and hype behind them that Victoria's seasoned markets have to draw from. So what are we most excited for? A little of everything! As well as something very, very special. you'll have to keep reading to find out, but let's just say Picot is creating something pretty wonderful!
The Pop-Up Market on the Ogden Point Barge will be a collection of incredible artists and vendors selling their wares right on the water. It won't get much more sea-side than that! The Barge also hosts the wandering Mollusk cocktail bar and a live music. Can you ask for a more quintessentially Victorian Thursday? Picot will be participating with our own pop-up shop on the barge, so there's no excuse, you'll have to stop by and say hello!
The Pop-up on the barge is one Thursday a month from 2pm-9pm June 30, July 21, Aug 18
Picot's Night Market in Fernwood square is coming! That's right, we're setting up in the Fernwood Sqaure for night markets, Thursdays in August! We'll be transforming the square into a great night market. Each of these nights coincide with the Belfry's production of "Mom's the Word", so there will be plenty of people in the square to enjoy the market that evening. Stay tuned for more details on the type of venders and bands and other activities (hint-a lululemon ambassador may be guiding a sunset yoga practice on the lawn of Vic High)!
Join us in Fernwood Square Thursday Nights in July and August for the Picot Night Market
The next market is August 31, 4-9pm.

Etsy's Made in Canada Markets are unique because you're able to shop a lot of artists you wouldn't normally find at the usual Victoria Markets. Etsy sellers tend to stick to their online market place, shipping their wares across the world as opposed to selling in their community, so giving them a dedicated market has been a prime addition to Victoria's creative community!
The Etsy markets are sprinkled throughout the summer, finishing off with a massive two-day event that fills market square. You won't find food, drink, and produce at these markets so grab a coffee and a girlfriend and be prepared to shop!
Find Etsy Markets July 17, 24, 31 in Centennial Square, Aug 21, 28 in Centennial Square, Sept 4 in Centennial Square, and 24, 25 in Market Square

This market is the perfect way shake up a weekday evening and get out of the house. I would suggest wandering the market, purchasing some newfound treasures, enjoying a freshly cooked spanakopita or salmon burger from one of the many food vendors for dinner, then picking up a bottle of sea cider and some sweet treats before the market closes up to enjoy back at home, completing your perfect Wednesday night. Catch the Oak Bay Night Market every second Wednesday in the summer. July 13th, and Aug 10.
And to tie this whole list off, we've compiled a calendar of all the weekly markets to be enjoyed throughout the whole summer!
